Eco-bridge in Israel

Eco-bridge in Israel

Econtainer Bridge

A daring project in Israel demonstrates how to make gold or a bridge out of waste.

The area related to the draft is situated in the immediate vicinity of the Israeli city of Tel Aviv and the associated Ben Gurion Ariport.

History

The piece of land we are talking about is the present Ariel Sharon Park, which served the city as a landfill until 1999. With the support of several environmental organizations, a gigantic recycling project started in 2001 with the aim of transforming the Hiriya Landfill into the Ariel Sharon Park. The newly created park comprises an area of 2000 hectares, and is, thus, three times the size of New York's Central Park. The entire renaturation project will probably cost a total of 250 million dollars.

The park has been named after Israel's former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. He had been a committed supporter of the project at that time. The newly created parkland consists of a hill with a gorge that leaves a deep cut. In 2012, the architects of Yoav Messer Architects developed a bridge leading over this gorge. This bridge is supposed to span the canyon at a length of 160 metres, and shall not only serve as a passage, but also as a place to spend your time. It offers viewing platforms at several points and, thus, an opportunity to look across the land at the Israeli city of Tel Aviv.

Waste : Recycling : Reuse

The bridge consists of sorted shipping containers and, thus, makes use of their potential for recycling. They are the main component of the construction of the bridge. However, the draft leaves open as to how the containers interact structurally. At three points, the load of the bridge is transferred to the ground by four pillars each. The walls and roofs of the former containers are supposed to serve as the “façade” of the bridge, without any further cladding. Some of the container modules are opened at their long side, which enables the intended view of the surroundings. In this case, a façade cladding similar to window blinds provides sun protection. Photo-voltaic elements can be applied to this cladding, which could produce the “green electricity” for the night lighting.

Working on the draft of the bridge, the architects thought a lot on the subject of sustainability and nature conservation. Thus, the individual parts of the bridge are supposed to be exclusively produced in factories. This ensures maximum protection of the renaturated area around the building site during construction work.

Conclusion:

Even though the draft of the Econtainer Bridge is “only” a concept, and it is not clear, if there will ever be a bridge built in the Ariel Sharon Park, the idea of the architects, still, has its effect. The magnificently done visualizations show that the construction of a fully operational bridge, with aesthetic aspirations, out of recycled materials, is conceivable. I also like the architects' resoluteness in expanding the idea of recycling the park is based on.

The ecotainer bridge is a revolutionary new concept that has been created by some of the most brilliant designers, architects and engineers today. It's clear that once they will receive funding and the necessary approvals for the bridge, the engineers who will build it are going to need a lot more than some soldering tips to complete it, and building it will be an impressive achievement.

It is a wonderful idea to construct such a bridge using recycled materials, such constructions would inspire other builders to try this new green concept. However, no matter what kind of construction you want, you should get it done by a reputed builder. If you want to build fire pits for pool decks in San Clemente then you should hire Alderete Pools, Inc.

This bridge is indeed very unique in terms of construction and concept. However, now accessing such building materials has become easier thanks to the presence of online suppliers, in fact, you can also find items like metal Carport online now.

Although the idea is great, we don't see it implemented in other regions of the country or in other countries. Even though it was made with sorted shipping containers, the workers needed normal construction equipment and other construction materials to build the bridge. Also, if a machine damaged, the contractor must have some spare parts and components used in the semiconductor industry, like those from http://getsparesllc.com to repair it immediately and not to delay the project.
