New Interpreration of Ornament
The building’s long side consists of a glazed perforated façade. The translucent window panes in warm sepia shades have ornaments and relief motives from the Wilhelminian era printed on them, e.g. with amorphic shapes, columns and cornice ribbons. This results in a kind of visual illusion, seemingly integrating the classicistic elements into the windows.
In contrast to the long side, the two smaller ones are kept close through a natural stone façade. Openings can be found only here and there. Like a shell the natural stone reaches across the whole building front side and continues across the rooftop. This way the natural stone serves as a frame for the main façade of glass.
A glass structure creates the connection to the adjacent building from the Wilhelminian era. Here you will find four lifts, providing an extraordinary view across the city.
Giving the Old a new Look

The building pays homage to its former building culture without denying its own time. And it reflects the modern materials and construction methods of the environment without simply being a copycat.
